Name:
Earl Dallas Emmons

Date:
August 2nd, 1913 - November 16th, 2009

Obituary:
Earl Emmons entered the presence of his Lord Jesus on Monday, November 16, 2009, from his home in Pemberton, NJ. Born the youngest of 4 children to Howard and Maud (Clevenger) Emmons, in Vincentown, he moved to the farm in Pemberton at the age of 4. After graduating from Pemberton High School, he worked his father’s dairy farm until it became his. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Jeanne Roberts Emmons, to whom he was married for nearly 56 years, and by his sons, Earl Dallas, Jr (1943) and Donald S (2002). Active in the dairy industry, Earl served in the Burlington County Farmers Co-operative (later Agway) and the Burlington County Milk Producers Co-operative, while also serving on the New Jersey Milk Producers Association. Starting in 1960, he was the Pemberton Township Tax Assessor for 18 years. When he retired he was appointed by the Governor to serve as a Commissioner of the Burlington County Board of Taxation, being reappointed for a total of 15 years. When Dallas’ life was taken in a tragic accident, Jeanne and Earl began to search for spiritual truth and meaning in life. Earl reaffirmed his commitment to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior which he had made as a young fellow at the First Baptist Church in Pemberton. With a new assurance of his salvation through Jesus’ death on the cross in his place, and a deep love for the Word of God, he began to devote his energies to the local church. He served as Deacon, Elder and/or Men’s Bible teacher at First Baptist, Calvary Baptist, Victory Baptist and GraceWay Bible Church (Hamilton, NJ). He taught a Bible study in his home for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. Earl is remembered by his children for fervently loving Jesus and His church, for consistently applying the principles of God’s word and for faithfully meeting the needs of others. He modeled a life of hard work and faithful service. Earl is survived by his sons, Dick (Fran) & Walt (Brenda), and his daughter-in-law Evelyn, by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, and by his sister, Mrs. Mabel Cross (Basking Ridge, NJ). A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, November 20th at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly by Dr. Richard Emmons, with interment to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pemberton Boro. Friends may also call from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday evening, or from 10:00 am until time of service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Earl’s name to GraceWay Bible Church, 1934 Klockner Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619 or to Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry, Box 908, Bellmawr, NJ 08099.
