Obituary:
William (Bill) Lovelett passed away suddenly January 30, 2010 at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He was 83. Bill was born and raised in White Plains, NY, before moving to Burlington County and settling in Mount Holly. He was a resident of Mount Holly since 1954. Bill is survived by his four children; Anne Stoppe of Fairfax, VA and husband Ben, Roger of Charlotte, NC and wife Debbie, Lynn Elizondo of Mason, Ohio and Paul of Charlotte, NC and wife Susie, and four grandchildren; Jonathan and William Lovelett of Charlotte, NC, Melissa Elizondo Landers of Mason, Ohio and Sherrie Winiavski of Jackson, NJ. Preceding him in death was his wife of 58 years Betty and his brother Robert. Bill graduated from White Plains High School in January, 1944 and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, NY in June, 1950. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 in several locations in the U.S. and overseas. After graduating from R.P.I. with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering he became a junior draftsman with John A. Roebling and Sons in Trenton, NJ. Bill transferred to the Roebling, NJ plant, became a licensed Professional Engineer and holder of several U.S. and British patents. He retired as Chief Engineer and Plant Superintendent from Colorado Fuel and Iron Roebling Plant. For over a decade after retirement Bill was called upon to provide his expertise for U.S. foreign trade wire and steel issues. He permanently retired in 1986. Bill was a fifty year member and past President of the Mount Holly Lions Club. He was also active with the Mount Holly Boy Scouts having himself obtained Eagle Scout. In his retirement years he split his time between his homes in Mount Holly and San Benito, TX. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Friends may call at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly between 11AM and Noon on Saturday February 6, 2010. A funeral service will follow at Noon with burial at the Mount Holly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Mount Holly Chapter of the International Association of Lions Clubs c/o Mr. David Fletcher, Treasurer 11 Maple Tree Drive Mount Holly NJ 08060 to aid in their scholarship and charitable works.
