Charles W. Thompson of Lumberton died peacefully at home on Saturday, February 6, 2010. He was 80.
Born in Camden, Charlie was a longtime Lumberton resident. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, and worked for NJ Bell Telephone for over 37 years. He was Cubmaster of Lumberton Pack 22 from 1963 – 1973 and active Scouter, Barbershopper with the Cherry Hill Pine Barons Chorus, 20-year square dancer, member of Spartan Gun Club, lifelong Phillies fan, and a very active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hainesport for over 54 years.
He is survived by his wife Joan; 2 sons: Charles M. Thompson of Houston, TX, and Jody K Thompson (wife Kelly and daughters Shannon and Jamie) of Wilmington, DE; a sister Catherine Reeves of Merritt Island, FL; and 2 brothers: Paul of Westmont, NJ, and Jerry of Vero Beach, FL. He was the father of the late Kevin Thompson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 15th at 11:00 AM at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 910 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 AM at the Church. Arrangements by the Perinchief Chapels, Mount Holly.
The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Blessings Fund of St. Paul's Church, to Samaritan Hospice of Marlton, NJ, or to a charity of choice.
