Carol A. Barfield of Mount Holly passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at her residence. She was 68.
Carol was born and raised in California, she moved to the East Coast for College and attended Beaver College and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University. She was a teacher for a number of years and married her first husband Aaron J. Trilling during this time. After her three children were born, she returned to school and earned her MSW from Rutgers University. She worked as a Social Worker for Burlington County for 25 years. Carol’s main focus was the homeless. She was one of the founders of the Affordable Homes Group. Carol was an active member, former Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly. She also served as counselor to various groups including a grandparent’s group. Carol and Rev. Daniel H. Barfield were married in 1986. She also enjoyed taking pictures, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
The daughter of the late Ward Clark and Dorothy McCrossen, she is survived by her husband Daniel H. Barfield (retired Presbyterian minister); 3 children and their spouses: Joel S. (Paula) Trilling of Mars Hill, NC; Daniel M. (Kerry) Trilling of Juliustown, NJ; Karen (Jeremy) Friedman of Medford, NJ. 7 Grandchildren: Madeline, Samuel, Hannah, Max, Nathan, Olivia, & Payton. She is also survived by 2 brothers: Mark Clark and Michael Clark of California and her caregiver Gloria Huston.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 Garden St., Mount Holly, NJ 08060. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery (St. Andrew’s) on Pine St. in Mt. Holly. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 AM at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to either Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053 or to the First Presbyterian Church at the address above.
