Obituary:
Robert W. Gaskill of Columbus, N.J., died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Capital Health System, Fuld Campus in Trenton. He was 88. Mr. Gaskill was born in Mount Holly, the son of the late Charles and Laura Wills Gaskill. He was raised in Moorestown. Mr. Gaskill served with the U.S. Navy in the Seabees in World War II. He was a longtime member of Operating Engineers Local 825 in Springfield, N.J. He was the owner of Gaskill Construction Company in Delran for many years before retiring. He loved participating in sports, especially hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Beach Haven Yacht Club, Burlington County Country Club, and Kona Country Club in Hawaii. He also was a member of American Legion Post 493, Mystic Island. Husband of the late Betty Lou Gaskill, and brother of the late Charles, he is survived by two children, Diane Schenkel of Peoria, Ariz., Robert David Gaskill (Kathleen) of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Robert Rountree (Sophia), Robert D. Jr.(Kat), Sean and Cynthia Cushing (Dan); and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brianna and September. He also is survived by a sister, Helena Cheyne of Maryland; and a brother-in-law, Alpheus Weidner Jr. of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Interment will be in Eldridge Cemetery, Mount Laurel. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
