Chad Anthony Vessels

Chad “Skate King” Anthony Vessels, son of the Late Terri Reamer and Lloyd Vessels was born on June 18, 1984 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He received his wings to “Skate Heaven” in the early morning of September 7, 2022 at Virtua Lady of Lourdes (Camden). Chad is predeceased by his grandmother Carol Mertz. He attended the Burlington County Institute of Technology (B.C.I.T.) and graduated from the Medford Tech Campus. (Class of 2004) Chad was excellent using his hands and cooking. He worked various jobs including the Occupational Training Center (O.T.C.) for 14 plus years. Most recently, he worked at the Southampton Township School District. Chad enjoyed family time and spending time with his friends. If you needed to be cheered up “The Skate King” would surely make you laugh before he left the room. Chad loved skating, skating and more skating and dancing. One of his favorite skate houses was SK8 47 in Franklinville, New Jersey. Once the music turned on, you were sure to find Chad rocking to the beat. The best time of the year was football season for Chad. He was an “Oakland Raiders” to the heart fan and loved the color black. You would find him watching the games with his father and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his father too. They would take trips to Oakland to watch the Oakland Raiders often. He looked forward to boasting about the trip. You could also find him traveling along often with his dad to basketball games to watch his dad referee. That was always a highlight of his childhood life. Another highlight was going to the movies with his father and head to John and Molly’s to eat. Speaking of food, Chad loved his Bonus Mom Twanda’s macaroni and cheese and dressing. He enjoyed our home especially on special Sundays. It was like Thanksgiving to him. He knew for certain there would be food, food and more food! He loved the family meals. When you think about Chad one must think about his special brother-friend too, Mark Lawshe. They spent good times at the Neptune Hose Co. in Burlington City where Chad was a member. Chad loved people and wanted to always be kind to people. He truly loved his sister Shauna, mother and grandmother. They were always a topic of conversation. In the words of Chad, “LATER!” He is loved and will live in the hearts of many forever. Skate on “Skate King”, skate on. His vibrant life will forever be cherished in the lives of his siblings; sister, Shauna Harris (New Jersey; three step-sisters, Robin, Elena and Lori Napravnik; step-brother Najohn Dickerson, God-brother Nasir Dickerson; aunts Bonnie Mertz/Roger (New Jersey), Stephanie Ashley/James (Georgia), uncle: Wayne Mertz (Florida) He also leaves a host of other family members and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Thursday evening from 6-7pm at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. A brief service will be held at 7pm.
