H. Oscar Davis

H. Oscar Davis died peacefully on February 14, 2015 at Samaritan Hospice in Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ. He was 83. He was born and raised in Juliustown, where he lived until he moved to Arney’s Mt. and then to Leisuretowne in Southampton, NJ. He is predeceased by his father and mother, Harry & Mabel Davis, a stepmother, Caroline Davis, and his brothers, Howard and George Davis and his son Timothy. He attended Juliustown Elementary School and Pemberton High School. He worked for Fort Dix Exchange, Pemberton Lumber Mill, Mt. Holly Concrete and his own business H. Oscar Davis & Sons Concrete Co., Inc. Upon leaving the Concrete business, he went on to be Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds for Northern Burlington H.S. until he retired to care of his small farm and enjoy life. He is survived by his beloved wife Jeannette (Linton) of 61 years, son Paul & Donna of Riverside and son Wayne & Kathy of Lumberton, six grandchildren: Matthew, Mark, Morgan, Mallory, Paige, and Dean Davis and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Oscar loved hunting, his dogs and being in the Jersey Pines. In recent years he spent time at his farm where he grew “pick ur own pumpkins.” He was one of the founding member of the Fantail Hunting Club, drove a Stock car in the late 40’s and early 50’s driving at Arney’s Mt. Speedway and New Egypt Race Track. He was a NASCAR and a football fan. He had been in politics in Springfield Township as a committeeman and served on the Zoning Board for many years. Our thanks to the doctors and staff at Capital Health in Trenton, Lourdes LTAC Unit at Willingboro and Samaritan Hospice at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly for their care and compassion. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 6-8 PM and on Friday morning from 10-11 AM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly, NJ. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Juliustown Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Oscar’s memory to the Fantail Hunting Club, attn: Keith Oakerson, Treas., 288 Ridge Rd., Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
