Alan M. Morrison

Alan Michael Morrison, age 60, of Lumberton, NJ passed away on September 24, 2017 in Athens, Greece. Born in Mount Holly, NJ on December 29, 1956, he was the beloved son of the late Violet C. Morrison and William J. Morrison, and nephew of the late Dorothy Bareiszis and Helen C. Smith. Alan is survived by his two sons, Andrew Webb Morrison and Michael Alan Morrison, whom he loved deeply, and four siblings and their spouses – William Morrison and Monica Reece, Brian Morrison, Sheila Morrison Reed and Gregg Reed, and Terrance and Janette Morrison. He was a devoted uncle to seven nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews. In addition to family, Alan will be dearly missed by his life partner Marie Levesque and her children, Stephanie, Jeff and Jessica Buchko. Alan attended Sacred Heart Grammar School, graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School and owned his own contracting business. He had a big, bright personality and an unmatched ability to appreciate the richness and rewards of life. He will be remembered for his warm smile, lively eyes and kind words for each person he encountered. Alan lived life with a sense of passion, daring and optimism. His friends came from all walks of life. To fellow boaters on the Delaware River and in the marina where Alan and Marie kept their boat he was known as Big Bamboo, the life of the party, a guy who was up and dancing at the first sound of music in the air. Other people will remember that he enjoyed fishing, loved to ski, could handle a cue stick pretty well, learned to fly a plane, always worked hard to support his family and never pulled his punches. Everyone in Alan’s life also knew that few things gave him more pleasure than riding his motorcycle. With his Harley roaring beneath him, the wind rippling his face and no particular destination in mind he always felt unbound and untroubled. Friends of Alan are invited to Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street in Mount Holly on Wednesday, October 18 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM to visit with his family, reminisce and support each other. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly on Thursday, October 19 at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be private at St. Paul’s Mausoleum on Jacksonville Road in Burlington, NJ. Sunday, October 22 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM the Medford VFW Post 7677 at 317 Church Road where Alan was a member will host a celebration of Alan’s life for family and friends. The Morrison family and Marie Levesque would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors at KAT Hospital in Athens for their exceptional skill and compassion in caring for Alan at the end of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Alan’s name to Doctors Without Borders.
