Amerina "Myrt" M. Cucinotta

Amerina (Myrt) M Cucinotta 1925 – 2016 Amerina M Cucinotta (nee Tomassetti), 90 of Homestead in Columbus, New Jersey passed away March 26th, 2016 at the Lutheran Crossings Nursing Home in Moorestown, New Jersey. Born in Montone, Abruzzi, Italy, daughter of the late Serafino & Amina Tomassetti, moving to America at age 2 1/2 and eventually becoming a naturalized citizen, she lived in South Philadelphia and Camden/Burlington Counties of South Jersey most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arthur F Cucinotta, mother of Arthur Cucinotta, Jr. (Berkeley Springs, WV), Frances Kenney (Cinnaminson, NJ), Mark Cucinotta (Westampton, NJ) & Lisa Cucinotta (Mt Laurel, NJ) and sister to the late Manfredina Granato and Ilda Schafer. She is survived by Daughter-in-laws Susan and Christi Cucinotta, Son-in-Law Joseph Kenney, five grand-children: Landon, Christopher, Kristen, Jeff & Bryan, and a great-grandson Miles. Myrt, as she was known to all, worked at the International Resistor Corporation (IRC) in Philadelphia, PA, then as a “stay-at-home Mom” until her children were well on their way towards being educated; then finally worked as a Retail Clerk for many years at Bowens Pharmacy in Browns Mills, NJ before retiring. She loved cooking for family & friends, especially baking; enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and knitting large blankets, of which she shared with most of her family. In earlier years she was very active in the Roman Catholic Church activities, having served as a lecturer, CCD teacher, and on the church choir. For much of her adult life, she & Art especially loved hosting a Traditional Italian Thanksgiving Dinner for over 40 members of her family and friends. The family is most grateful to all her at-home private nursing aids, the staff of Virtua Memorial Hospital, Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice and the Lutheran Crossings Nursing Home. Please indicate her name on any donation checks. Relatives and friends are invited to viewings and a funeral for Myrt. Viewings on Thursday, March 31 from 6-8 PM and on Friday, April 1 from 9:30-10:15 at the Sacred Heart Church, 260 High St., Mount Holly. A Roman Catholic Mass will be celebrated in honor of her life and death at 10:30 AM on Friday at the Church. Interment at the William C. Doyle Cemetery in Arneytown, North Hanover Township, New Jersey will be private.
