Betty J. Parcells

Betty Jean Parcells (nee Mitchell), 82, was born on March 20, 1942, in Elizabeth, NJ, to loving parents of the late Shafter and Beatrice Mitchell. She was baptized on March 15, 1969 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Betty was married to Wesley Parcells for 32 years. She fell asleep in death on the evening of September 1, 2024, at her home in Westampton, New Jersey, with her husband by her side. Betty loved to travel, embark on cruises, dance, sing, and enjoy fine dining. She worked as an expeditor for many years at SeaLand and then at Puerto Rico Marine Management, where she retired in 1993. She cherished every opportunity she had to spend with her family. Her three grandsons, affectionately called the "Z-Boys,” were her loves. Then, she received the blessing of two great-grandchildren, Roman and Anaya, with whom she enjoyed spending time with when they visited her in her home or on WhatsApp and Zoom. In her free time, she enjoyed watching television with her husband. Betty was known for her love for her family, style, and most of all, her love for Jehovah God. She demonstrated that love in words, affection, and actions. Her faith in Jehovah’s promise of a resurrection found in John 5:28, 29 was real and gave her immense comfort to the end. Betty is preceded in death by her son, Shawn Lucas, her brother Shafter Mitchell Jr., brother Howard Mitchell, brother Lawrence Mitchell, sister Mildred Edmonds, and sister Fanny Bailey. Betty is survived by her husband Wesley Parcells, daughter Theresa White (Zoltan), step-daughter Asha Parcells, grandsons Zacari (Shenea), Zacaro, and Zaveinn White (Stephanie), great-grandchildren Roman and Anaya White, sister-in-law Carol Jones, and sister-in-law Beryl Dixon (Lloyd). She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Nurses Carmen and Lorna lovingly cared for Betty in her final years. They treated Betty like she was their mom, and she viewed them like daughters. A funeral discourse will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm at: Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 907 Poplar Street, Burlington, NJ 08061.
