Doris M. Nixon

Doris M. Nixon, of Vincentown, New Jersey, passed away on November 14th, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old. Daughter of the late Arthur and Clara Pepper, Doris was born June 4th, 1928 in Tabernacle, New Jersey where she was raised as a good old-fashioned farm girl. She was one of five Pepper children and the last remaining to have lived in the Historic Pepper House on Carranza Road in Tabernacle. Through the years she enjoyed being outdoors in the sun, taking walks, and most importantly, loved her home and spending time doing anything with family. Kind and caring but tough and independent, Doris was known for her sass and would regularly dish it out to her equally spunky children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even in her 90’s it was never a surprise to see her dancing to a tune — whether at a wedding or even just in the living room. She often reminisced about skipping lunch in high school to do the “Jitter Bug” in the gymnasium. She adored her cat “Kitty” who was both her best friend and spoiled child all rolled into one. But above all else, she loved her family more than anything. She would never turn down an opportunity to babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they always brought her immense joy and kept her on the go. She was fond of reminding them that there were “no favorites” (however, the debate rages on!) She is predeceased by the one and only love of her life, James Nixon, who passed in 1975. Doris is survived by her children, Jeffrey Nixon and Sharon Nixon; grandchildren Michelle Minervini (Anthony “Tony”), Eric Nixon, and Molly Nixon; great-grandchildren Lauren Zmirich, Keziah Nixon, Kanye Nixon, Christopher Minervini, Ximena Nixon and Levi Nixon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory and distinctive laugh will live on forever in our hearts. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Friday November 19th, 2021 at 12pm at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street Mount Holly, NJ 08060. Friends and Relatives are invited to visit with the family from 11am-12pm prior to her service. Interment will follow at the Jr. Mechanics cemetery in Tabernacle, New Jersey In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to The Food Bank of South Jersey 1501 John Tipton Blvd Pennsauken, NJ 08110.
