Erica S. Hartkorn

Erica Hartkorn, beloved wife of Tom Hartkorn and precious daughter of Carole Steepy and the late Kirk Steepy of Browns Mills and Southampton, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Camden, New Jersey. Erica was born on May 9, 1983, in Toms River, New Jersey, but spent her childhood and early adult years in Browns Mills. She was a 2001 graduate of Pemberton High School and later attended Burlington County College. She was a member of First Baptist Church, in Mount Holly and most recently of Immanuel Baptist Church in Maple Shade. Erica was passionate about all things biblical. She eagerly shared God’s love with friends and family, and even strangers. She was truly blessed by the opportunity to combine her love for children and her passion for her Lord by teaching preschool children in Sunday School and at Timothy Christian Academy in Mount Holly for 15 years. In addition to teaching, Erica enjoyed traveling. She made several trips to Panama to connect with her mother’s family. She lived in Canada for a while and made several friends there. She especially looked forward to leisure time away with her Momma and her husband, Tom, at the family cabin in Pennsylvania, or day trips with Mom to the Jersey shore, or attending Nascar races with Tom. She was an avid scrapbooker. Erica’s engaging laugh and brilliant smile will be missed by her husband, Tom Hartkorn, her mom, Carole Steepy, aunts, uncles and cousins, Jacqueline Newborn, Raymond and Mariela Velasquez, Maurice and Deborah Newborn, Stephen and Galina, Christopher, Alex, Adam, Bonnie, Gabrielle, Celina, Sonia, Tracie, Veronica, Faith, Aaron, and their children as well as several colleagues at Timothy Christian Academy, and close family friends. Relatives and friends may visit with Erica’s family on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church, 6 S Poplar Avenue, Maple Shade. A Celebration of Erica’s Life will follow immediately afterwards at the church starting at 6:30 pm. Please join us for a repast immediately following the service.
