Frances M. Layman

Frances Mary Stellwag Layman Frances Layman of Hainesport, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly with her loving family by her side, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 64. Born in Mount Holly, Fran was a lifelong resident of Hainesport. She was a 1973 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School. Through the years, Fran worked in various medical settings, such as Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital, Virtua Memorial Hospital and CHOP Care Network in Mount Laurel (formerly known as Kids First) in administrative roles. Though she worked full-time, her number one priority was raising her boys to be strong, independent and compassionate men. Fran enjoyed spending time at LBI with her sisters and friends, crocheting, reading and watching Gunsmoke. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren (her pride and joy). She was a life member of the Hainesport Ladies Auxiliary and lifelong parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hainesport, where she attended weekly mass. Fran was predeceased in death by her parents Francis and Mary (Stuart) Stellwag. She is survived by her devoted sons, Keith Layman and his wife Jayme (Hershberger) of Atco and Christopher Layman and his wife Jillian (Rife) of Hainesport; loving sisters, Dianne Smith and her husband Woody, MaryAnn Pondish and her husband Scott and Jean Furter; cherished grandchildren, Molly Rose, Joel Christopher, Dalton James and a grandson due next month; nieces, Lorraine Smith McCormick (Rick), Audra Pondish (Mike Sokolowski), and Denise Pondish Worrell (Michael); nephews, Jeffrey Smith Sr. (Gina), Billy Furter (Paula Budden), Justin and Travis Furter; great nieces, Alexis Smith, Briana Pondish Worrell, Alana McCormick and Avery Worrell; and great nephews, Jeffrey Smith Jr. and Ryan and Connor McCormick. She was very close with her loving Aunt and Godmother Rosie Davenport sister of Mary (Stuart) Stellwag. She also survived by many aunts and cousins whom she loved dearly. She shared her love of their grandchildren with her former spouse Steven P Layman. Fran's humble spirit and loving heart will truly be missed by those that had the opportunity to know her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 22 at Noon at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport. Family and friends may call Friday (before mass) from 10:30 until noon at the Church In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at the address listed above.
