Ida F. (nee Matarese) Danley

Ida Danley (nee Matarese) of Mount Holly passed away Wednesday at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91. Mrs. Danley was born in Eastampton one of ten children of the late Joseph and Josephine Matarese. She worked many years as a weaver for Alexander Plush Mills in Mount Holly and always said she had the best boss (Clyde Lutz) anyone could hope for. She also worked at the New York Ship Yard and at the J. Cheyne Toy Company in Burlington. Mar Danley was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed being around her family and made every holiday a special occasion with decorating the exterior and interior of her home, cooking, baking and cleaning. She was always kind to everyone, including the mailman and and sanitation workers with refreshments. She was known to the neighborhood children as “Nanny” or the “Cookie Lady.” Ida will always be missed by her family and friends. Wife of the late Harry Danley, she is survived by three children: Dolly Weeks (Ray deceased) of Hainesport, Frank (Butch) Danley and his wife Barbara of Jacksonville, NJ and Barbara (Bill) Downs of Mount Holly. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Terri (David) Benn, Candis (David) Melin, Chuck (Lynda) Downs, Brad Downs, Susan Danley and Heather Danley; her great grandchildren: David M. Benn, Michelle Benn, Matthew Melin, Nicholas Melin, Anthony Melin, William (Billy) Downs IV, Zachary Downs, and Jacob Downs and her great great grandson, David Michael Benn (DJ) who was her partner in all playful activities and her pride and joy the last five years. She is also survived by two sisters: Conchetta Gharron and Annie Lore and was predeceased by her other seven siblings: Willy, Frank, Angelina DeStefano, Lena Chapin, Violat Pirek, Rose Williams and Mary Matthews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11AM at the Sacred Heart Church 260 High Street, Mount Holly. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9PM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly.
