Imanuelis Ambrozaitis

Imanuelis “Mike” A. Ambrozaitis passed away Sept. 20. He was 85. He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Lithuania, to Ona and Emilis Ambrozaitis. Mike was preceded in death by his siblings, Irving, Edith, Evaldus; and his beloved wife, Marion, in 1989. He is survived by his three children, MaryLou Mazzucco, Michael Ambrozaitis Jr., and Susan Picarelli; their spouses, Michael Mazzucco, Carmen Ambrozaitis, Peter Picarelli; grandchildren, Kyle, Melissa, Michelle, Vinny, and Joey; his brother, Tommy Ambrozaitis and wife, Eileen. Mike is also survived by his wife of 20 years, Carol Ambrozaitis. At age 7, Imanuelis and his family were forced to leave Lithuania and live in Germany in Displaced Persons camps, where they lived for 10 years. In 1951, Mike and his family came to America through the Lutheran Church sponsorship Job Program, when he was 18 years old. In Germany and his younger years Mike loved to play soccer and was always very active. He took English lessons upon arriving to this country striving for a better life for his whole family. He worked on a farm during the day, and a butcher shop in the evening. Eventually he met his dear friend, Woody, who introduced him to the excavating business. He freelanced driving the tractor for his friend with PSE&G. They then were so impressed with his work ethic offered him full-time employment and was with PSEG for 42 years as a heavy equipment operator. Mike retired from PSE&G in 1992. Mike and his late wife, Marion, were very active in the Mount Holly Moose Lodge 737 for many years; Mike was elected Governor, then Pilgrim; this is the highest honor given by Mooseheart. Mike loved the fact that main goal of Moose Lodges everywhere is to raise money for Mooseheart/Chicago to provide housing and education for children who lost their families. He took time to visit facilities in Chicago, which helped him and his late wife Marion to organize and run fundraisers at Mount Holly Moose. Mike was a self-taught handyman, who remained loyal to his family and loved to work outdoors. He will be missed and always impressed upon his children the love of family and helping those in need. Friend and relatives may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly NJ, 08060. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 2.
