Irma Wilkins Johnson

Born Irma Landes in Vilhofen, Germany, she met Clinton B. Wilkins who was serving in the U.S. Army there and they were married. Later they settled in Westampton, N.J. Following the death of her first husband she met Robert Johnson and they were married. Irma ascended to heaven Saturday, Nov. 26 2016, surrounded by her family: Peter, Robert, and Harry, her three sons who were the love of her life. She was very proud of her sons. She also will be missed by her brother, Rudi Landes, sister-in-law, Marie Landes; and many other family members in Germany. Irma also will be missed by her daughter-in-law, , Judy, Robert's wife; and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many close friends and people she met through her life. Irma came a long way in life, from growing up on a farm during the War in Germany, to her life in America, working in the famous toy factory, J. Chein in Burlington City, N.J.; and working as a nannie was a pleasure for her also. She had many loves and passions in her life: gardening at the house and relaxing in her swimming pool. Bingo was one of her passions we enjoyed as children, going with her to be her snack runners. Later casinos came to New Jersey, and she loved every bit of it. Listening to her tell us about the machines and the people, she had us in laughter. Going to concerts with the comps she received also brought enjoyment to her. Irma was an animal lover, it didn't matter what type of animal, she would open her heart to them. She made sure the cats were fed, and the birds were taken care of too, all year round. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially to Germany to see her family and going to Oktoberfest. Traveling across America was another joy. Irma loved life and with her looking down upon us knowing we love her. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly, where the memorial service will follow at noon. Interment will be in Mount Holly Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Irma's name to Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060.
