Joseph Pearson

Joseph Pearson of Southampton, formerly of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Care One in Evesham. He was 91. Born in Mount Laurel on August 29, 1930 to Harry and Sarah L. Pearson, he is survived by his wife Grace Faczak Pearson and his children: Kenneth (Laurie) Pearson, Joan Benedict, Timothy (Kelli) Pearson, John (Michele) Serechia, Terrie (John) Conover, Thomas (Helen) Serechia; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his son Steven, wives Doris & Catherine, and his sister Helen Haines. He is also survived by a brother Robert Pearson. Growing up he worked on various farms as a laborer before and after school. In 1949 he joined the Army until 1953 and then served in the Reserves until 1959. Prior to joining the Army he worked in the Accounting field for RC Shinn Accounting, after his honorable discharge he continued to work in accounting for James G. Becker until they closed and then for Mercantani Ford and Jeep, and then Cooper Cycle World until he retired at 75 years old, saying that he had enough working, after working since he was 10. In his late 50’s and early 60’s he was the tax collector for Lumberton Township at his home. He enjoyed the Jersey Shore, camping in the Poconos, and taking Cruises. He was the longest living member of the Lumberton Fire Co. No 1 with 60+ years of service. He was Past Chief, Past Asst. Chief, Past Secretary and Life Member. Joe was also Past Secretary of the Lumberton Township Firemen’s Exempt Association, served on the Registration and Finance Committee, a Life Member in the NJSFA and a Life Member of the Burlington County Fire Chief’s Association. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lumberton. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Lumberton Fire Co. No. 1, 34 Municipal Drive, Lumberton, NJ 08048 or the Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad, 4 Holly Blvd, Southampton, NJ 08088.
