Joyce M. Openshaw

Joyce “Billie” M. Kendall-Openshaw of Mount Holly, passed away on Monday May 7, 2018. She was 86. Born in Gardiner, Maine on December 10,1931, moved to Freehold, New Jersey in 1963 after following her husband to Cape May, New Jersey, Boston Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia and Maine where he was stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard. Joyce joined the Freehold Boro Police Department as Special Police Officer and served for 27 years with the department. She enjoyed watching all sports on TV and belonged to a bowling league in Brick. Joyce coached Pop Warner for Freehold and Lakewood for many years teaching flag twirlers, majorettes and color guard. She really enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The wife of the late Lewis R. Openshaw, she is survived by her son Raymond Goodwin and Daughter in-law Brenda of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; daughter Michele L. Fuller and son-in-law Wayne of Mount Holly, New Jersey, and Stephanie A. Openshaw of Grand Junction, Colorado. Son-in-law Daniel Heinze of Axton, Virginia. She is also survived by her brother Paul and sister-in-law Lilly of Winthrop, Maine, and sister Sireta Demo of Zephyrhills Florida, Nancy and brother-in-law Frank McIntosh of St. George, Utah, Jerrie and brother-in-law Daniel Mulherin of Monmouth Maine, and the late James and Lise Kendall. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws George and sister-in-law Jane Openshaw of Cherryfield Maine, Edward and Ellen Openshaw of Bar Harbor, Maine, Sidney Openshaw of Ellsworth, Maine and sister-in-law Maire Openshaw of New Bern, North Carolina. Her grandchildren are the late Cory Openshaw, Lyndsay, Ashley-Taylor Fuller and Stuart Altamirano, Toby and husband Michael Bonds, Dale and husband Bobby McClure, Cole Heinze, and Rhiannon Davidson, Daze, Quintin, and Austin Openshaw. Great-grandchildren are Connor, Garrett and Morgan Openshaw, Amber and Casey Edwards, Zachery, Alexis, Samantha, Maverick, and Rayni Bonds, Dell Chechel, Kellen and Brayton McClure, Layla and Adelyn Heinze and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11am at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street Mount Holly. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10am until time of Service.
