June Phyllis Henning

June Phyllis Henning, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 84. She was born in Jersey City, NJ; the daughter of the late Earl and Georgiana Fegely. June was a graduate of Lincoln High School. After graduation, she attended Jersey City Junior College and received the Dean Pristeria Scholarship Award for College Citizenship. She also attended Rutgers University as well as taking private voice lessons. She enjoyed singing privately and semi-professionally. Before marrying her beloved husband George in 1957, she worked for the law firm of McLaughlin, Russell, Bullock, and Lark in New York City. She was an extraordinary wife and mother who successfully raised their five children. June was a charter member of FISH, Inc. in Dunellen, NJ for 16 years before moving to PA. While living in PA, she volunteered at the Emergency Relief Association of Lower Bucks County and also served on the Board. She was active in community affairs and served on Rolling Hills Girl Scout Council, her church, the PTA, and the Masonic Home. June enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, was an avid reader, and had varied interests including painting, opera, and touring historic homes. She is survived by her children; David (Margaret), Lisa (James) Thomas, Tracy (Gordon) Wells, Eric (Elizabeth), Laura (John) Mears; 13 grandchildren; Todd (Jocelyn), Catherine (David), Kyle (Kelly); Amy, Leo, Andrew (Amie), Gordon, Adam, Brian (Emma), Meredith, Stephanie, Carl, and Natalie; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexandre, Drew, Adelyn, Brayden, and Evelyn; brothers, Earl, Allan, and Ronald Fegely; sister, Marcia Sullivan; sister-law Mary Susan Henning, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years George; her sisters Jacqueline and Gloria, and her brothers-in-law William Henning and Michael Sullivan. Relatives and friends may visit the family on Friday, April 7 from 10-11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 910 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ 08036. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM at the church. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hainesport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in June’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or your favorite children’s charity.
