Louisa Corbett

Louisa (Annetta) Corbett, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, 22 April 2022 and was finally reunited with the love of her life, Alfredo David Corbett. She was surrounded by her children, and other family members in her home where she wanted to be at the time of her passing. Annetta, as she was called by her close family members and friends, was born on September 27, 1940, in Colon, Panama. She was raised by the late Mita and Luther Mathews. She attended Rainbow City High School where she was voted Mas Athletica (best female athlete). Annetta loved growing up with her large family and would share her stories of the adventures she experienced as a young child and young lady. Often, telling us about how she could pick mangoes and other fruit from the trees along the road where she lived in Panama. She married Alfredo David Corbett Senior in 1961 and migrated to the United states in 1963. Louisa and her husband Alfredo created 5 children together. Louisa Annetta Corbett become a widow to Sergeant Alfredo David Corbett Senior at the very young age of 30. her perseverance and hard work led her to obtain a Masters in in education. She worked for the Department of Defense for more than 25 years where she retired and went on to work for ADP (Automatic Data Processing). She is survived by her children: Alfredo Corbett, Colonel in the United States S Airforce; James Corbett, IT Product Analyst at Johnson & Johnson; Valerie Taplin, Gifted Education Teacher at West Point; Valentino Corbett, Military Police Officer in the US Army; and Louisa Valencia Cintron, Guidance Counselor at Polk County Middle School; eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one on the way. Annetta was a strong woman. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a great grandmother who lived a long, happy life. She doted on her grandchildren and was happiest when her large family surrounded her. She loved when we would all get together at her house to cook and play with family and friends. She will be missed but we know that she is happy in her new home with our father and the Lord. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, April 29 from 10-11 AM at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM at the funeral home.
