Margaret C Fekete

Margaret C. Fekete of Hainesport, NJ, formerly of Willingboro, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2026. Margaret (Margie) was born in Philadelphia on April 17, 1936 to Dominic Venticinque and Margaret (Walheim). She graduated from Little Flower High School in Philadelphia. At the age of 19, Margie married Alexander (Al) Fekete. In August 2025 they celebrated 70 years of marriage with a beautiful church service and a large gathering of friends and family. Her beloved husband Al died 2 months later. Margie was a force of nature. She was a true matriarch with monumental organizational skills. Her most defining feature was her dedication to family. As the wife of a serviceman for her first 20 years of marriage, she mastered the challenges of single-parenting during Al’s 3 overseas tours. At the same time, her sense of adventure was stimulated by moving with her family to far-flung Army bases, including to Fairbanks, Alaska and Baumholder, Germany. She was a loving and supportive, yet firm, parent. Family lore recalls her wielding a wooden spoon while running after, but never catching, a misbehaving child who was squealing with laughter. She taught by example with kindness, generosity, politeness and respect towards others. She was unafraid to speak out against unfairness or injustice. Growing up, Margie was active and sportive. She passed a love of sports on to her children. As she grew older, she became an unabashed, rabid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. Classic country or rock music would get her to jump out of her chair to sing while dancing the twist. She sang almost as loudly in the living room as she did the hymns in church. Entertaining at home was one of her greatest joys in life. She also loved to travel, especially on cruise ships. For decades she planned massive family gatherings at Jersey beaches. Margie always found time to volunteer in the community. She organized a CYO girls softball league for 7 years while also coaching a team. This was followed by a stint as an umpire. She and Al volunteered weekly for 40 years with First Way of Burlington County. Margie was a dedicated Catholic her whole life. She was a church organist for many years, and served as a eucharistic minister along with Al. Margie and Al’s 1960 visit to the Vatican where she saw the Pope in person was the highlight of their two-week tour of Europe. Margie valued her life-long friendships even as she continued to add new friends over time. In fact, the many visits by her closest friends pulled her through the most difficult times of the last few months. Margie was predeceased by her infant twin boys, Michael and Mark. She is survived by her 8 children: Margie (Jim), Donna (Peter), Al (Lynn), Steve (Gigi), Kathy (Bill), Michael (Susan), David (Esther) and Dominic (Christine). She is also survived by 21 cherished grandchildren: Lisa, Mark (Courtney), Michelle (Gavin), Emily, Alex (Lucas), Alex, Sean, Shane, Stephanie (Stefen), Kelly, Kevin, Michael, Dominic, Dane, Cole, Allison (Austin), Josh, Nick, Ryan, Jake and Chase. Margie was enamored of her 7 great-grandchildren Hunter, Sienna, Dane, Tyler, Steven, Stetson and Alexandria (Libby). Margie was predeceased by her brother Ted and his wife Carmen (Norat), as well as her sister Mary Siess and her husband Bill. Margie is survived by her siblings Lou (Peggy), Bob (Joan) and Carol (Matt), and by many cherished nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Saturday 7/18 at 9am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hainesport, NJ, followed by a Mass at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ 08036 Private burial will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery alongside Al and their twin boys.
