Marie E. Brudent

Marie E. Brudent of Burlington passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly. She was 89. Born September 1, 1922 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to Melanie Pierre and Antoine Augustine. Marie was a very intelligent and dedicated person since childhood. Although her academics did not begin until the age of 10 years old, she was able to excel, attended les Filles de Marie a Elie Dubois, and became a teacher and principal at Lilavois Primary School. She also tutored children within her community to ensure no child was left behind and were given the ability to excel academically. In 1945, Marie married Charles Brudent, an electrician and paralegal for the civil courts in Haiti. Six children were conceived through this matrimony, and Marie was widowed in 1982. In 1970, Marie Brudent traveled to America, and within a year all her children were in America with her. She and her family lived in Brooklyn, and Marie worked at Houbigant Perfumes as a factory worker in Ridgefield, New Jersey from 1970 and retired in 1986. Marie enjoyed politics, reading, sewing, and cooking, especially for her family. She was selfless, faithful, and a loyal servant to God. She was compassionate, empathetic, understanding, and generous to everyone. Marie Elvire Brudent was friendly, reserved, and had an outstanding personality. She was extremely motivated in everything she did…and she loved ALF! Marie was 89 years old when she passed away at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Burlington, New Jersey on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 of natural causes. Marie Elvire Brudent is survived by 6 Children; Yves Brudent, Marie Yves Joseph, Leslie Brudent, Annie Ervilus, Patrick Brudent, Hans Brudent; 19 Grandchildren; Sandra Brudent, Patrick E. Joseph, Krychna Brudent, Andy Joseph, Godwin Brudent, Reginald Joseph, Sereine Brudent, Tamara E. Joseph, Ali Ervilus, Melissa A. Joseph, Christina D. Joseph, Phillip Ervilus, Joanne Brudent, Patrick Brudent Jr., Geraldine Brudent, Jeffrey Brudent, Clarence Saint. Vile, Anthony Brudent, Patrick Brudent; and 12 great –grandchildren. She’s also survived by several nieces and nephews residing in Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Saturday at Christ the Redeemer R.C. Church, 113 South Ave., Mt. Holly. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly.
