Marlene E Coles

Marlene Esther (Bensel) Coles, formerly of Mount Holly passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease on June 3, 2014 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Hainesport, NJ, she was 76 years old. Marlene was born on March 10, 1938 in the little Village of Rancocas, NJ to Mary Esther (McHenry) and Herbert Bensel. She graduated from Burlington City High School in June 1956 and married the love of her life Earl George Coles on August 14, 1958. Marlene enjoyed life to the fullest through camping with the 1492er’s Camping Club, bowling on Monday mornings, crafts and shopping. She was an active member of the Vincentown Grange, Pomona Grange, and the NJ State Grange. She was also a leader of the 3B’s 4-H club and the Girl Scouts. Marlene held numerous positions of employment with her last being a bus driver for Wills Bus Service in Lumberton. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Mary Esther and Herbert Bensel; her husband of 41 years, Earl George Coles; and her brothers, Louis Clarence Bensel and Ralph Frank Bensel. She leaves fond memories with her daughter, Darlene Esther (Coles), her son-in-law Ronald Richard Skeenes, Jr., two grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Skeenes, and Richard Earl Skeenes all of Hainesport. Sisters-in-law, Norma Coles of Marydel, Maryland; Pearl and Paul Loveman of Burlington NJ; Shirley Bensel of Rancocas, NJ; and Barbra Bensel of Cinnaminson, NJ. Also cherishing her memory are her brothers-in-law: Howard Coles of Mt. Laurel, NJ and Elwood and Ginny Coles of Suddersville, Maryland. Also remembering Marlene is honorary family member Connie Roper as well as numerous friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Asbury Cemetery in Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Marlene’s name to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
