Mary Stark Edwards

Mary Stark Edwards, formerly of Camp Springs, MD, died peacefully on May 27, 2017 in Evesham Township, New Jersey. She was 88. Mary was the daughter of James and Eva (Taylor) Stark. Her three brothers predeceased her. She was married for forty years to Dr. Lawrence Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1990. She is the mother of Sandra (David) Jost and James (Debbie Strong-Edwards) Edwards and the grandmother of Robert (Melissa) Jost, Christopher Jost, and Karoline (Cory) Anthony, Erin and Alexa Edwards. She is the great-grandmother of Ryan and Kyle Jost. Mary was born in Mandan, North Dakota, and after graduating from Mandan High School, she attended North Dakota State University, and graduated from the University of North Dakota, where she majored in chemistry. While at UND, she met Larry and the two were married on June 10, 1950. Mary lived in Fargo, ND, Zelienople, PA and Edwards, CA, before settling in Camp Springs, MD. While in Maryland, Mary was a member of the Officer’s Wives Club at Andrews Air Force Base; an active member of Camp Springs Presbyterian Church, which became Unity Presbyterian Church, where she served as a member of many of the call committees and a constant member of the Session; the Surratt Society; the Antique Club of Southern Maryland; and a very active member of the Eastern Star/Unity Chapter, where she served as chaplain and Worthy Grand Matron, as well as a variety of other leadership positions; and the Harmony Hallers Senior CItizen program. She was also a host and participant in several different bridge clubs. Mary loved to travel, including a trip to Australia when her granddaughter did a semester abroad. Funeral services for Mary Edwards will be held at Unity Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 2nd at 11:00 AM. Family visitation will take place at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Road, Clinton, MD on Thursday, June 1st, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, with an Eastern Star rite at 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 10th at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 910 Marne Highway, Hainesport, New Jersey.
