Michael E. Taylor

Michael Eugene Taylor, the son of Roosevelt and Anna Taylor, was born on March 20, 1961, in Newark New Jersey.. During his youth, he attended Union Gospel Tabernacle and served as an usher and sang in the Tabernacle Youth Choir. He was known as “Master Golden Clippers” by his family and friends. He attended Malcolm X Shabazz High School upon graduation, he started cutting hair at Elizabeth and Alpine Barbershop. Mike wanted to have a better life for himself, so he decided to join the United States Marine. Throughout his life, Mike was employed at multiple establishments. He was a ramp clerk at Continental Airline and barber at Carl’s Barbershop. He then pursued his CDL license and became a tractor trailer driver for UPS. Later in his career, he also pursued his dream of becoming a Longshormen which was over 30 years of service. This was his most recent place of employment. Mike had several hobbies which included but not limited to, playing pool, fishing, bowling, skating and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also had a passion for sports cars and he loved to show them off. Mike met his loving wife at the tender young age of 13. Mike always called her Cathy but her nickname is Vet lol. They loved to spend time traveling and enjoying each other's company. Mike was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Mike had an unmatched sense of humor. No matter what frame of mind he was in, you were always going to get a good joke from him that would have you in tears. On Wednesday, September 04, 2024, Michael Eugene Taylor, went home to be with the Lord. Michael leaves to cherish fond memories: his beautiful wife of 50 years, Sylvia Taylor; three children: Nytieah Morgan, Porsche Taylor-Lawrence (Ledora), Michael Taylor, Jr (Alexandra) and one loving dog name Tyson; Brothers: Theodore Taylor (Saadia), Mark Taylor (Sharon); Sister-In Laws: Starla Barns, Yolonda Lynn; Three grandchildren: Tytiana Morgan, Lyunnah & Savion Fils-Aime; Nephews: Antwon & Marcus Taylor, Keith Clark (Amanda), Willie Lynn, Angel Acevedo (Shannon); Nieces: Rosaline Rolon (Joel), Shanae Clark, Lawren Dandridge-Taylor-Maddox (Bryce), Latasha Barnes; Uncle: James Durham and one Uncle that held a special place in is heart Joseph Taylor (Eva); Aunts: Rosa Hopkins, Marie Baker; along with great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
