Ralph H. Alfors, Sr.

Ralph H. Alfors, Sr. (91) beloved husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family. Both he and his late wife Katherine were born in Brooklyn, NY, a week apart. He to Rudolf and Barbara Alfors, she to Henry and Marie Wohltmann. He graduated from Manual Training High School class of 1936, she from Bay Ridge High School class of 1936. He served in WW II in the Pacific and then made a career in the military, serving in Greece, Germany, Korea, and France, settling in Mt. Holly. He was the receiving manager for Channel Lumber for many years. He enjoyed fishing, photography, reading, his Giants football team, watching old movies – especially Westerns. Working in his vegetable garden, sharing his tomato harvest, and cooking family dinners was what he most loved. His quick wit, love of a good joke, and his whistling ability are memories his family will dearly miss. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Katherine, they will be together again as he is laid to rest on their 60th Wedding Anniversary. He is survived by 4 children and their spouses: daughter & son-in-law Karen & James (Ted) Harper of Mt. Holly; son & daughter-in-law Ralph & Meredith Alfors, Jr. of Lumberton; son & daughter-in-law Ronald and Teri Alfors of Chalfont, PA; daughter & son-in-law Barbara & David Saturna of Mt. Holly. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Katie Harper, Brian (Christine) Alfors, Aaron Alfors, Ava (Mark) Polozolas, Diana Saturna, David Saturna, and Danielle Saturna; and his great-grandchildren: Cameryn Alfors, Morgan Polozolas, Jordan Polozolas, & Katelyn Polozolas. Brother of the late Donald, Robert, and Eileen, he is also survived by his brothers George of Brooklyn, NY and Norman of Olympia, WA. Friends and relatives are invited to his visitation on Thursday morning from 9 – 10:45 AM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, 260 High St., Mt. Holly. Burial with Military Honors in BGWCD Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown will held on Friday at 2:00 PM. Contributions in Mr. Alfors’ memory may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 260 High St., Mt. Holly, NJ 08060.
