Robert E. Moore

Robert E. Moore, 86, of Mt. Holly, passed away suddenly on July 6, 2011. Robert is survived by his wife, Joan (Weiss) and daughters; Ann Moore, Lori Combs and Marie Holt and sons-in-law, Dan Macfarlane, Jeff Combs and Chris Holt and Grandsons; John Bracco, Nicholas and Bryan Combs. Also a sister, Dorothy Smith of Easton, PA, and a sister-in-law, Jean Moore of Moscow, PA. Robert was born in Easton, PA where he graduated from Wilson High School in 1944. He graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Washington, D.C. and Drexel University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. At Drexel, Mr. Moore received the George W. Childs Scholarship and was a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical Engineering Association. Robert worked for RCA for 39 years, where he retired as a Radar Engineer in 1986. Later, he worked at Northern Burlington HS for 5 years as a substitute teacher. Robert was a member of the AOPA, Civil Air Patrol, Knights of Columbus and an usher at Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Holly since 1976. He was also a member of the Mt. Holly Planning Board from 1992 to 2010, serving as chairmen and member. Her served on the township’s Historic Preservation Commission and was a volunteer for Main Street Mt. Holly, helping to paint the murals on Mill and Washington Street. In 2004, the town council presented him with their “Citizen of the Year” award. Bob loved flying, earning his wings later in life. He flew single engine planes from 1982 to 2000 from South Jersey regional and Flying W airports. Bob was very caring and compassionate, always tending to the needs of family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am, Monday at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 260 High St., Mt. Holly. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Monday morning from 10 until 10:30 am at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Attention: GIFT PROCESSING, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 or to the church.
