Shirley Ann Polster

Shirley Ann Polster, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pottsville, PA; the daughter of the late Gervase and Laura (Kessler) Murphy. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, friend and a special person to the ones who knew her. The Matriarch of five living generations, Shirley was an Angel on Earth who always saw the good in everyone. She was the epitome of kindness and generosity and would give her last dime to a stranger, if it would help lighten their load. Shirley's first love was her family. She was a single Mother who worked three jobs to support them. In addition, she loved dancing, rollerskating, antiquing and her beloved Eagles and Phillies. She would volunteer for various organizations, as well as make monthly donations to charities which benefited children, animals, the elderly, and other causes close to her heart. Shirley was loved by all who knew her and everyone referred to her as either, "Mom" or "Nanny". Her smile was infectious. Shirley lit up a room and everyone in it. She is predeceased by her former spouse, James Lamont and husband, James Polster; brothers, Russell, Francis, Earl, Gervase, and William. She is survived by her children, James (Josephine) Lamont, Laura (Nicholas) Belfiore, Elizabeth "Lisa" (William) Polster-Lindquist; grandchildren, Angela (Owen) O'Connor, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Krzyzanowski, Christina (Todd) Rasmussen, Laura (Cameron) VanDegrift; James (Caroline) Lamont, Danielle (John) Dwyer, Dylan (Valerie) Dwyer, Nicholas Belfiore, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Emberlee, Victoria, Kimberly, Tyler, Lexi Rose, Spencer, Charlotte; great-great grandchildren, Gianna, Giulian, Michael III, Jasper; sister, Joan Murphy; her beloved cats, Mr. Meow and Lucky. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, December 7 from 7-9 PM and Friday, December 8 from 9-10 AM at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. A Catholic prayer service will be held at 10 AM at the funeral home.
