November 27, 1928 - January 24, 2021
Agueda Torres, 92, of Westampton, NJ passed away peacefully at home on January 24th, 2021. Blessed into the world on November 27th, 1928, she was raised by her father Felipe Cordero Sanchez, and mother, Juanita Cordero Ayala in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. She was the youngest of 13 siblings. On June 28th, 1952, she married her husband, First Sergeant Arcadio Torres, whom she originally met as a pen pal. After her husband enlisted in the army they lived on numerous military bases across the continental United States until he was killed in action on June 4th, 1970 during the Vietnam War. Most of her long and happy life was spent in Westampton, NJ surrounded by a community that adored her. She had a career in Electronics and worked in IT for Northern Telecom & G.R.M. She also volunteered as a US Election Worker for Westampton Township. Above all, she dedicated her life to raising her family and praising her love for God as a devout Roman Catholic. Rice, beans, and tostones were her specialties and everyone knew Agueda as a Master Chef. You never left hungry after visiting and you longed for her dinners with family and lively conversation. She spent her days outside in her garden, admiring the clouds, tending to her rose bushes, and growing her own produce. Agueda’s love for animals was profound, she loved every creature no matter its shape or size. Crocheting and knitting were one of her favorite pastimes, her specialty, doilies. When she wasn’t knitting, you could find her traveling the world, sightseeing, or playing slot machines. There was never a time she was out of arm’s reach from her loving family. Agueda Torres carries her legacy through her wonderful children Magaly Weinstein and Sandy Torres (Fiancé Beth McGovney), and her grandchildren: Alicia Torres (Husband Daniel Miller), Captain Ryan Torres, Branden Weinstein, Rachel Weinstein, and her pets, Leo, Malibu, Sadie, Aspen, and Cairo. You couldn’t find a more caring soul, Agueda made an impact on every person she met. Her kindness, grace, and selflessness will be greatly missed but her spirit will live on in cherished memories, the family she created, and in her exquisite recipes. There will be a small visitation for relatives and friends on Friday, January 29th from 9:00-10:00am at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 am at the Sacred Heart Church, 260 High St., Mount Holly. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
