Elwood H. Hammitt

July 31, 1929 - May 12, 2022

Elwood H. Hammitt, 92, of Columbus passed away on May 12, 2022 at Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly, New Jersey. He was the son of Edward and Rebecca Hammitt. Elwood was born in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey on July 31, 1929. Elwood was a resident of Jobstown and Columbus for many years. He was predeceased by his wife Florence Hammitt. He is survived by his son Wade Allen and wife Karen and a much loved grandson, Wade Adam. Elwood was a farmer and worked for the Columbus Farmers Market for 45 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the Division 172 regiment. Elwood was a Master Breeder and Judge of French Mondain Pigeons. He was a lifetime member of the Philadelphia South Jersey Pigeon Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson. Because of cemetery restrictions on flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills, New Jersey. Interment to be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
