Ira Prickett Webb Jr.

Ira Webb passed away peacefully at the age of 93, while residing at Medford Care Facility in Medford, NJ. Cab, as he was affectionally known, was born on Park Avenue in what is now Historic Smithville Park in Eastampton, NJ. A lifetime Eastampton resident, Ira worked as a road foreman for the Burlington County Highway Department for over 35 years. Upon his retirement he became a very accomplished bird carver, winning numerous awards. He also loved to travel, enjoying many bus trips and touring all across America. Ira was also active in the local community. He was a charter member of the Smithville Fire Department, (Eastampton Twp Fire Co. #341) along with being a member of America Fire Department and Emergency Squad (Station #504 & #509.) Cab’s true passion was automobile racing. If it had four wheels and went fast Cab loved it! He started out racing his own car at the Mt. Holly Fairgrounds in the late 40’s, and he was a regular on the local dirt track circuit. He made many lifelong friends locally and nationally within the IndyCar and NASCAR communities. He was also a lifetime member of the Checkered Flag Fan Club. Ira was a muscle car enthusiast, owning and displaying his prized 1969 Plymouth GTX, with his friends from the Boulevard Cruisers Club. Ira is predeceased by his mother Anna Elisabeth and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Vicki (Bruce), along with siblings Betty, Kay, Herb (Betty Jo), and Harold (Pam). Also left to cherish his memory are his five grandchildren Michael (Kristy), Matthew, Veronica (Anthony), Brooke, Kelsey (Andrew) and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 5pm to 6pm at the Smithville United Methodist Church 719 Smithville Rd. Eastampton, NJ 08060. Pastor Merlene Taylor will officiate.
