James Francis Dunlap

James Francis Dunlap (Jimmy) , 78, of Westampton, New Jersey, passed away on June 10, 2022, to the sorrow of his family and friends. Jimmy was born to William and Rita Margaret (Rehnert) Dunlap, on October 9, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his son James (Hannah) of Pittsburgh, PA and daughters Megan Labastida (Angel) of Westampton, NJ, and Sarah Matthews (Shayne) of Furlong, PA. He also leaves behind his step-daughter Theresa Nissen of Moorestown, NJ, sister Rita A. Kelso of Austin, TX, as well as grandchildren, nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother William Dunlap. Jimmy was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. A skilled ice hockey player and figure skater, Jimmy was hired by Shipstad and Johnson’s Ice Follies immediately after graduation. He skated professionally for several years nationally and abroad before serving in the US Army Reserve and beginning a career in property management. Jimmy successfully spent years managing Ocean Club Condominium Association, Atlantic City and Hopkinson House, Philadelphia. An avid sportsman, Jimmy especially enjoyed hunting with his son Jim in Maine, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia as well as deep sea fishing off the Jersey shore. Jimmy was mechanically inclined and took pleasure in maintaining his cars and home. He had a propensity for shopping and enjoyed collecting decoy ducks as well as model airplanes and trains. He would spend his Sunday mornings drinking his high-octane coffee with considerable half-and-half, listening to The Sounds of Sinatra with Sid Mark. Prior to moving to Westampton in 2018, Jimmy spent over 40 years in the community of Tenby Chase in Delran, NJ. Jimmy’s quick wit and effervescent laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial gifts may be made in Jimmy’s memory to the American Lung Association.
