Kay F. Simmons

April 24, 1948 - May 5, 2022

Kay F. Simmons of Lumberton passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, Mt. Holly. She was 74. Born in St. Louis Missouri, Kay had a brief enlistment in the Women’s Army Corp where she was transferred to Fort Dix, NJ and met her husband Franklin who was also in the Army. Together with their young family they were stationed in various states around the country eventually setting back in Burlington County, NJ. Kay worked at Virtua Memorial Hospital for over thirty years. “Miss Kay” was well loved and respected as a hard worker and a special person. Kay could often be found praying and reading her Bible. She attended the Fountain of Life Center for nearly forty years and served as part of the intercessory prayer team, Patron of the Arts and various other ministries. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a quiet woman with a sweet spirit who loved the Lord, her family and her job. She is survived by her children, Shelley Herring (Christian), Franklin J. Simmons Jr. and Yolanda Simmons and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Franklin J. Simmons Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, May 12 from 10-12pm at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Funeral services will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
