Nelson L. Grovatt, Jr. of the Rancocas section of Westampton died Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit at Virtua-Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. He was 93. Nelson was a lifelong resident of Rancocas. He was a 3rd generation farmer on the family farm. He was a life member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau. In addition to farming, Mr. Grovatt was very active in both his community and church. He served as Westampton Committeeman and Mayor, was a longtime member of the Westampton Township Board of Education and the Westampton Zoning Board, He was a founding member of the Westampton Police Department and was the township’s first Police Commissioner. He was also on the Board of Directors of Burlington County Special Services School District. In addition, he had served as a Deacon at Calvary Bible Church in Willingboro and Moravian Church in Palmyra. The husband of the late Thelma and the father of the late Alan, he is survived by 2 sons: Larry and Denise Grovatt of Gibbstown; Wayne Grovatt (Marilyn Mullen) of Burlington Township; and 4 grandchildren: Travis, Kaitlin Bowers (Aaron Bowers), Tyler, and Trever. He is also survived by his brother Clarence Grovatt of Tabernacle and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mt. Holly. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-9pm and on Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM at the Funeral Home.
