Richard J. Ian Bruce

Died peacefully FEB. 24, 2022, 2 days before his 89th birthday. Mr. Bruce was residing with his daughter Sally and her husband William Moore in Apollo Beach, Florida. He was born in East Sussex, England to Richard and Sarah Bruce. Although born in England, he called Northern Ireland his home with many relatives and friends that resided there. Mr. Bruce was a British Veteran. Serving honorably in the Irish Guards. He was on active duty during the death of King George VI and the Coronation of Princess Elizabeth. In 1957 he immigrated to the United States. Working hard to get enough money to bring his family here. He settled in Mount Holly and worked for St. Andrew’s Cemetery for nearly 40 years. He also worked part time for Perinchief Chapels for many years. Richard belonged to the Relief Fire Engine Company #1 in Mount Holly and was a Life Member. Mount Holly Exempt Association, Life member of the Burlington Firemen’s Association. Member of the Lumberton Fire Company #1. Mount Holly Lodge No. 14 Free & Accepted. Masons, Scottish Rite Mason, Crescent Shrine and Burlington County Shrine Club. Knights Templar, High Twelve Club #640, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Royal Arch Mason #3, Order of Eastern Star #147. He belonged to the Loyal Orange Institution No. 35, Legananny True Blues LOL 1455 Northern Ireland. He also belonged to the Holiday Rambler Recreational Club and was the chairman of the South Jersey Chapter. His traveling took him all over the United States pulling his trailer. Made many a trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Niagara Falls, and Kitchener, Canada. Richard is predeceased by his wife of over 65 years Dora and son David. He is survived by son Ian M. Bruce of Gordonville, Pa., daughters Sally (William) Moore Apollo Beach, Florida and Lisa (David) Clear of Pemberton NJ. Sister Sadie Dixon of Hertfordshire, England, Yvonne (Patrick) of Paducah, Kentucky. 6 grandchildren, Monica (Scott) Warner of Mount Holly, Ian Bruce Jr. (Tara) of Westampton, Angela (Jon) Harris of Mount Laurel, Brittany Moore of Apollo Beach Fl. William Moore of Haddonfield, Trevor Clear of Pemberton, and 6 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the St. Andrews Cemetery, 128 Pine Street, Mount Holly N.J. at 12 noon. Family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to a charity of your choice in memory of Richard Bruce.
