Cynthia Coggan

Cynthia Coggan, age 74 of Edgewater Park, NJ passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday November 27, 2022. She was born to William and Rose Cargill in Albany NY on December 8, 1947. She is predeceased by her parents: William and Rose Cargill, as well as her husband of 38 years Merrill “Tiny” Coggan. She is survived by her three children and their families Alan and Jennifer Coggan (Tyler and Jacob) of Edgewater Park, NJ; Scott and Stacy Coggan (Ryan and Alexa) of Hainesport, NJ; and Rebecca and Steve Schoenfeldt (Alli, Steven and Douglas) of Auburn, MA. She is also survived by her siblings Steve Cargill of Park Ridge, IL and Joanne Patrie (Chris) of Voorheesville, NY. Cynthia (Cindy) was the successful business owner and backbone of the Deli & Pizza Shop in Edgewater Park and formerly Willingboro for the past 37 years. She took great pride in owning this family business and will be missed greatly by the community she served. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit and endless knowledge. She was “google” before google existed. She loved crosswords and trivia and was an avid reader who enjoyed everything from suspense and mystery to history, as well as crime dramas on tv. She was a lifelong “Phanatic” of her Philadelphia Sports teams dedicated to cheering on the Eagles and Phillies for every game. She was an “Army Brat” as a child spending years living abroad in Germany and then stateside in New York, Chicago and ultimately settling in New Jersey where she raised her family. She loved being a mom and “mom-mom”. And if she wasn’t putting in 60 hour work weeks at the deli, she was at home with grandkids, hosting the holidays or baking. Her recipes for “cowboy cookies”, Jewish apple cake and chicken soup are just a few of the things that will be passed on for generations keeping her memory alive. In her later years she was the tireless caregiver to her husband until he took his last breath. And her children did the same for her- holding her hand and watching football together on her last day. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life to be held on Tuesday between 4 and 8pm at the family home of her son Scott in Hainesport. Cindy’s family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living (Mt. Laurel), Cambridge Rehabilitation and Senior Living (Moorestown), and Vitality Hospice for their support and care over the past several years.
