Elizabeth "Betty" Sykes

Betty was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and spent her school years in Johnstown, PA, where she was awarded in high school, best smile. Betty was also a cheerleader and never missed a dance, but her heart belonged to Mount Holly where she resided 66 years and was the Registrar of Vital Statistics for Mount Holly Township for 48 years. It was supposed to be a “summer job”. She later served on Mount Holly Town Council for a term. Betty touched countless lives with her warm, beautiful smile and magnetic vibrant personality. She had a laugh that was sweet and contagious. Betty was a master of joy. Everyone loved being in Betty’s presence to enjoy her positive energy. Betty was a devoted mother. She and her daughter, Lynn, were an inseparable duo. When Lynn was young, Betty took her everywhere with her and as adults their bond only grew stronger, they ate dinner together every night, shared a love for cooking, shopping adventures and hit the town; no drive was too far, enjoyed plays, concerts, comedy and cruises, you name it. Remaining best of friends every step of the way. She never missed a sporting event her daughter was engaged in whether it was home or away and was the biggest cheerleader in the stands. She loved ballroom dancing and spent countless nights tearing up the dance floor with her friends. The men always asked where she took her lessons, but she was a natural and instinctively could follow the best partners that had danced for years. Betty loved to cook, her love shown through her amazing meals. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes on her friends. Betty wrote clever original poems and affectionate roasts of her friends at retirement dinners. Betty was rarely seen without a smile on her face. Betty was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and had a very strong faith in God. Betty is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Casey Noble. Casey loved his mother-in-law more than any son-in-law could and enjoyed Betty as much as Lynn and was completely devoted to her care and protection. The two were so close. He was warned that if he was going to marry Lynn, he was getting a 2 for one and he said there was no doubt in his mind and took it on. Betty’s legacy lives on through her loving daughter/son-in-law Lynn & Casey as well as her countless friends.
