Iris L Moore

Iris Leona Moore, age 96, of Westampton, New Jersey and Phippsburg, Maine, quietly passed into her Savior’s arms at her residence on November 16, 2025. Born July 9, 1929 in Bartlett, New Hampshire, she moved as a child to Bath, Maine. She grew up on Weeks Street with her loving parents, Lucian and Lois March Ames, graduating from Morse High School in the class of 1947. Iris married her childhood sweetheart, J. Malcolm Moore, on June 18, 1948. Married for over seventy years until Malcolm’s death in 2019, the couple had two children, John and Debra. In addition to her seven grandchildren, she was blessed with an abundance of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Malcolm; her sisters, Madge and Florence; and her brothers, Buddy and Joe. Iris loved to read, do puzzles, and garden. Planting flowers at her cottage was a must, maintaining them diligently throughout the season. Bird watching and feeding was a steady joy in her life, and her feeders were always full. Iris loved dogs, especially her pug, Pugsy, whom she adored. She also loved to quilt and made many beautiful ones for her children and grandchildren. Iris was a devoted Christian and loved her Lord with all her heart. A member of the Nazarene Church for most of her adult life, she loved to teach Sunday School, sing in the choir, and play the piano. As a teenager, she sang a live duet weekly with her sister on a Christian radio program for WCOU in Lewiston, Maine. A devoted Gideon member for years, she loved passing out Bibles to those in need. Iris was devoted to her family and loved to cook and entertain. Her home was often open for a meal and games, and over the years she and Malcolm shared hundreds of meals with their family and friends. Her cottage in Small Point had many visitors from the first of June to the end of September, and her guest book is filled with names. She was cheerful, gracious, and playful – quick with a smile or a tease. Her drink of choice was black coffee from morning till night, and her coffee pot was either full or ready to brew a fresh pot. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath, Maine at a later date.
