Karen Ordog

Karen Ordog (Sutphin) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20th surrounded by her family. She is survived by her mother (Ruth), husband (Stephen), her two sons and their spouses (Stephen Jr., Amy; Matthew, Katelyn), her four grandchildren (Wesley, Connor, Emme, Luke), her brother (Sefton Jr.) and many other close relatives whom she cared for very much. She was predeceased by her father Sefton Sutphin Sr. A loving mother and caring grandmother, Karen cherished spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She was a graduate of Florence Township Memorial High School and Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She was an accomplished athlete and excelled in all competitions in which she participated. An active supporter of the Special Olympics organization, she was an advocate for making physical education accessible for everyone. After beginning her career as a Physical Education teacher at Delran High School, where she was also the head coach of the Field Hockey and Softball teams, she stepped away to raise her sons. She would return to teaching at Holy Assumption School and then in the Tabernacle School District where she treasured many meaningful relationships with her colleagues. Throughout her life she served as a volunteer coach and spent many hours devoted to causes that revolved around her children and other youth in Tabernacle and Florence Township. She loved playing cards and board games as well as caring for pets, especially her beloved dogs, Christy and Zoey. She spent many summers at the beach and was an excellent swimmer, serving as a lifeguard at a local lake and recreation center. She will be remembered as a selfless, caring, thoughtful individual, who always put the needs of others above her own.
